Lawrence was interviewed on August 18, 1976 in Cumberland House, Saskatchewan. Lawrence Cook is a long time resident of Cumberland House and knew James Brady and worked in community affairs with him. He talks about the CCF government's policies and how the people reacted to them, the Legion, the various Co-op efforts that were tried in Cumberland including the Credit Union, Co-op fishing, timber operations and trapping, and the government store. He was the only informant to talk about efforts by Brady to organize a Métis Association in Cumberland in 1949. In this interview, Lawrence also talks about hunting and fishing regulations, working, and WWII. |
