Jim tells stories of his grandfather when he was in the 1885 Resistance. Jim’s grandfather was known for his stories and legends and Jim remembers when his grandfather passed away at the age of 104 and he shares his memories of him. Jim got married in 1946 in Crooked Lake. The couple moved to Regina in 1954. Stella and Jim discuss the various jobs they had when they moved to Regina. They started a family of their own with seven children and many grandchildren. Maurice Ledoux was born in Binscarth in 1939. He moved away from Ste. Madeleine because the people were chased out of their community. He discusses his school experiences and remembers that Métis people were not allowed to go to school with the non-Aboriginal children. He started trapping with his father and worked for farmers to help the income of his family. Maurice has eight children, thirty-six grandchildren and some great grandchildren. For as long as he can remember his family spoke Michif. |
