Description: This image is of the memorial erected to commemorate the fallen Métis at Batoche in 1885. It was erected on July 23, 1901. The names listed on the memorial are J Ouelette (age 90), J. Vandal, D. Ross, I. Boyer, M. Trottier, A. Letendre, D. Carriere, J. Swain, A. Jobin, C. Tourond and E. Tourond. Deryk Bodington (1914-), a professional photographer and a freelance writer working out of Calgary, Alberta, donated these images to the Gabriel Dumont Institute. The images were taken in the 1950s-70s and centre on Batoche and its environs. Bodington also donated photographs to the Glenbow Museum and Archives in Calgary and to the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa Ontario. He specialized in Western-Canadian landscapes and rural heritage.
