Subject: | Illustrated War News, 1885 Resistance, Métis |
Description: | This is the title page to The Canadian Pictorial & Illustrated War News, July 4, 1885 (Vol. I, No. 14). The image, in a vertical and washed-out green format, was sketched by F.W. Curzon who traveled with General Middleton’s command. It is of Métis refugees and includes four women, one baby and two other children. Either a soldier or a mounted policeman is watching them. The woman in the centre of the tipi frame seems to be knitting, while the children are playing. |
