Harold was interviewed on August 12, 1976 at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Mr. Read has lived in northern Saskatchewan for many years. He worked for the provincial government in the fur marketing area, and after retiring, became an adviser to the Trappers' Association. He is a close friend of Jim Brady, Malcolm Norris, and Pete Tomkins. He discusses fur marketing in northern Saskatchewan at different periods, the slow evolution of local input and decision-making and the replacement of the bureaucratic structure in the north, as well as a comparison of the personalities and approaches to work and Aboriginal people of Jim Brady, Malcolm Norris, and Pete Tomkins. |
