Description: | This document is a clipping of a 1934 Saskatoon Phoenix article about James Clinkskill`s remembrances of the 1885 Resistance, particularly the events at Fort Battleford. This newspaper clipping was found stuffed in a 7 lb cannon projectile that was used in the Battle of Cutknife Hill (May 2, 1885). The cannon projectile was given to Dennis and Jean Fisher in the fall of 2011 by Gordon Bowman. Dennis and Jean Fisher in turn donated this artifact to the Gabriel Dumont Institute. This document is part of the Dennis and Jean Fisher Collection. This collection contains archaeological artifacts taken from the battlefields of the 1885 Resistance as well as Fort Pitt (Saskatchewan), Cumberland House (Saskatchewan) and St. Peter’s Mission, Montana. The collection also includes various artifacts and ephemera relating to the 1885 Resistance and Gabriel Dumont. |
